Edit activity metadata

Change the name, sport type and start date of a GPX, FIT or TCX file. Handy for fixing a wrong date, relabelling a run as a hike, or naming an activity before uploading. Everything stays in your browser.

How to edit activity metadata

  1. 1

    Select your file

Drop your .gpx, .fit or .tcx file onto the tool, or click to browse your device.

  2. 2

    Edit the fields

Change the name, pick a sport, or set a new start date and time. Changing the date shifts every timestamp by the same amount.

  3. 3

    Download the updated file

Pick an output format and download the activity with your new metadata.

Frequently asked questions

What happens when I change the start date?
Every timestamp in the activity is shifted by the same offset, so the whole session moves to the new date and time while keeping its original duration and pacing.
Why isn't the name kept in my FIT or TCX file?
The FIT and TCX formats have no standard activity-name field. The name is preserved in GPX; for FIT and TCX you can still change the sport and date.
Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. Editing happens entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
